Please read the following before placing an order with us. If you have any queries, issues or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us.
Cog Effects offers a 12-month warranty from the date of purchase to the original named buyer. This includes all parts and components (with the noted exception of footswitches), but does not include paint or finishing, any damage caused by misuse, lost knobs, or the use of an incorrect power supply. All warranty repairs will be subject to an inspection upon arrival at Cog HQ and we will contact you if there are any issues that prevent us from fixing it under warranty. Where this is the case, we will advise you of the cost to fix the problem. Our repair prices will always be reasonable and based on the cost of the parts and time to fix the issue - they will never be over-inflated.
What this means is that if you use the pedal we provide in the way it is intended to be used and something goes wrong, we will fix it free of charge (though you will need to pay the cost to post it back to us), without question. If you shove 240 volts of AC into it, run it over with your car, share a pint of lager with it, or otherwise mistreat or abuse it then your warranty is null and void.
You warranty is void if the pedal has been modified in any way (though your favourite band sticker on the outside of the box is ok) or if it has been tampered with. We offer a custom service - take us up on that if you want any modifications :)
This may sound obvious, but losing your pedal is not something we can cover under warranty.
You must always contact us before sending anything for repair, whether under warranty or not, and we always recommend posting by recorded or special delivery - we can not be held liable for anything you send to us that doesn't arrive.
What does "Support For Life" mean?
Support For Life means that while ever Cog Effects exists we will fix or replace parts in any Cog Effects product that is out of warranty for the most reasonable price that we can afford to charge. We will also provide after-sales support on how to use your pedal and get the best out of it if you need it, as well as answering any of your queries. Existing customers will be the first to hear about new Cog Effects products and offers. If you play live, feel free to send us a link to your band and let us know about the gigs - chances are if you're not in Sheffield we won't be able to get to a show, but if we like your band we'll let people know about you, and if we can get down to see you we will do so!
How soon will I get my pedal?
We are a small business and all our pedals are built to order, so if you need it by a certain date it is best to email us to confirm that we can get it to you by this time. Wherever possible we try to build up a stock of our main line of pedals so delivery will be almost instantaneous, though this is not always something we can do. The bright side is that if it takes more than a few days to get to you then you have the reassurance that a real human has built your pedal specifically for you, which is nice! As always, get in touch with any questions and we will give you the info.
Returning a Pedal To Us
In the highly unlikely event that you're not happy with the pedal you buy from us, for any reason whatsoever, you can return it within 14 days. Custom orders are not eligible for return. The first step for returns is to make contact with us as soon as possible. Once we receive the pedal back in the condition in which it was sent out to you (including all original packaging), we will issue a refund. We will not refund any postage costs incurred by you. Always send pedals by recorded or special delivery - we can not be held liable for anything you send that doesn't get to us. No point scrimping on a couple of quids worth of postage at the risk of a considerably larger refund!
All custom orders will be subject to a 40% non-refundable deposit paid before construction commences. We will talk to you at length about your custom order and ensure that you are happy with all the details before we ask you for a penny. The timescale for building a custom order can vary depending on the complexity of the project and any special parts that need sourcing - a Darklighter with a translucent paint finish will take less time than a remote-switched rack effects unit, for example. We will always endeavour to quote our timescales as accurately as we can, and where anything arises that means we will not meet our deadline we will contact you as soon as possible.
Upon completion of your custom order, we will invoice you for the balance that is left to be paid. Once we receive this, we will get your pedal sent out to you pronto. We will hold the pedal for a period of 4 weeks from the date of the final invoice, after which it will be offered for sale as a "one-off" on our website and social media pages if we do not hear from you to make arrangement for payment. As stated above, we can not accept returns on custom orders.
When quoting for custom work, the quote is valid for 90 days from the date on the quote. Though unlikely, it is possible that the price may change after that time. We make our custom prices as affordable as we possibly can, but you are still investing money into your pedalboard - we give you the extra time on our quotes so you can pick the right pedal without the pressure of rushing into it and potentially getting the wrong thing.
Money, money, money. They say that money can't buy you happiness. Don't listen to them. Money buys you pedals, and pedals make you happy. I digress. We accept credit & debit card payments via PayPal, and personal cheques. We plan to be able to take credit & debit card payments over the phone in the near future. Contact us if you have any problems with payment methods and we'll see what we can work out.
That must be wrong, surely?
We're human. Every now adn again we will nake a slepping mistake, or publish erroneous information on our website or one of our social media pages. If you see something you're not sure about, please get in touch and we will make sure you have the correct information and that we correct the error. We will be grateful that you have done this! If by some crazy act of madness we publish a price incorrectly (either too high or too low) then we will notify anyone that has purchased at that price what the correct price will be, and give them the option to purchase at the correct price or receive a refund. We are a small business and can't commit ourselves to selling at an incorrect price. As ever, feel free to get straight in touch with us about anything.
